This is a little study from our paint in Wethersfield Thursday. I’m trying to decide between open acrylics or gouache for our plein aire painters at camp this summer. The above was done with acrylic on site. I did the second in the studio in gouache… giving it a some changes for fun. Both mediums have positives and negatives… Hmmmm.
They both look really interesting. I haven’t used gouache, but I have some Kuretake watercolors that are almost opaque. I’ll be curious to know what you decide. I’ve found that even with open acrylic I get hard edges. Of course, that’s my tendency anyway. Yours looks nice a loose and soft edged. I think either way would work.
