Adrienne, the class I’m taking is intuitive composition. Most of what we’ve done for the first 5 weeks is mark making using black and white and maybe grey. We’ve marked off little boxes and just did mini compositions using charcoal and other tools and paint. They can be larger…just do lots of them. What has made me enjoy it is realizing drawing can be just mark making and doesn’t have to be copying a specific thing and looking for a realistic “perfect” result. That’s no fun for me!..you are already using different things…pastels etc. so it might be a way to start enjoying it.
I have a book I’ll go back thru and see if it might be good for inspiration. Don’t look for results!

I love the movement, variety and contrast of marks. Each one keeps my eye moving. It will be interesting to see what happens as you add color.
I like these a lot. I find them very interesting with a lot of energy.

These are so interesting! I’m glad you’re enjoying the class.
Your sketching, good for you. What kind of class is it? I need a class to inspire sketching.
