I haven’t done much drawing but this is from the Sargent class on hands I’m doing this month. This is the initial block in with a raw umber wash. I’ll move on to correcting and adding values. I’m trying to stay away from color since that always messes up my values! I hope everyone is well and thanks for posting!
This is a great beginning. I love that particular painting of Sargent’s. Can’t wait to see the next steps.

Elegant lay in… The hands in this are so eloquent. You seem to be catching their gesture and handling all those fingers that make it work together really well. No easy thing! It reminds you how much hands can say. I look forward to seeing the development of the painting.

Hands, yikes! But you chose well with Sargent, and you are of course doing this one so well. Good for you for also avoiding color! It is a distraction!!!
