I agree with Les… This does have an ancient vibe. The leaf patterns frame the entryway to somewhere in a dramatic way. The central position and layering draw me in.
It does look mysterious, and seems to tell a story, the vertical object on the left looks like an ancient ruin.
Regarding the snitch, I experimented with clay, gumpaste, foam and paper and have settled on clay for the ball part and delicate paper, wire and mod podge for the wings. They accept the paint. The paint didn’t work on the gumpaste.
