1.I’ve been trying to focus on flowers, but have found it difficult. I want them to look very abstracted but Still suggest what they are…it will take some practice. This one is a redo of one I sent earlier. The vase with flowers was just playing and cleaning up oils from my palette. the pink flowers isn’t finished.

Sharon, you are far too critical of yourself!!! The first one is so yummy, love the reds and oranges. I think it feels botanical, but I don’t even want to identify those flowers. Your choices of greens look perfect with the flowers, in 1 and 3. I wonder if it would help to put the flowers out of sight after you get your basic shapes in?
I wish I could, but usually the flowers are out of my head …a dash here a blob there!
I feel like you accomplished what you for looking for in both 1 and 3. I particularly like 3 the way it is.

I feel you’ve been successful in your abstract feel and still able to suggest what the flowers are. I really like the bold , bright colors of #1 and the softness in your colors in #3. I agree with Rose , you’re too hard on yourself, your abstracts & colors are wonderful. Relax and let it flow.
These are great Sharon! I love the red and orange shapes in the upper left in the first one, and the smaller shapes near the bottom. They definitely say “flowers” to me, but I enjoy thinking about what each part is. The last one is clearer but still loose and makes me look for what else is there. I really like the vertical lines (stems?) at the lower left, and the tiny bits of color upper right.
I love, love #3… It’s placement of your pinks against those wonderful blue and yellow grays is soft and sensuous. The two strong vertical pieces under the largest pink form bring it forward and also give the piece a sense of recession as my eye moves back. I wouldn’t touch it! It’s abstracted… even though I can identify the pink as flower… the reason I love the piece has little to do with the flower, it’s the use of your paint, your shapes and edges. It’s the feel of the piece as a whole.
Shar, I think you’ve found your happy painting place… and perhaps have discovered it for awhile. To me, you live between two worlds, and do it quite naturally and beautifully. ps. I’m sure it’s not easy… It seems like nothing is. Maybe it’s the quest that keeps us coming back.
Your paintings are so pretty and sophisticated! I love all three of these but especially number 1. It seems as though your paintings flow from within.
