This is from my class in November. I decided to try some black ink for more definition .

Your perspective in this one is very effective. I can see the land curving away in the distance. The leaning palms seem to be protecting the boats. I especially like how you did the water, simple but clearly calm water at the shore. I think the ink gives the boats importance and was a good choice! Also I’d really like to go wherever that is- it looks beautiful!
What a serene painting… It feels warm and calm. I like the way the diagonal palms, blowing in the wind, lead my eye out and the lapping water on the beach, brings me back in creating movement. I think you were right, the dark value on the boats works.
This is a really ice composition, Gemma. i like the diagonal of the palms and the soft value changes of the mountains in the distance. The dark value of the boats creates good contrast.

I agree with deb nd I really like how you overlapped the trees with the background as well as the foreground
I love your choice of subject! You can feel the breeze going through the palms, and the ink draws your eye to the boats nicely.

This has a great feeling of depth and a nice feeling of calm.

I agree with everyone. It is such a peaceful setting and the water is perfectly rendered. And the palm trees define the place so nicely. Great job!
I really like the trees bending in the breeze, your mountains feel rugged and I love the way you captured the water! So serene!
