“Autumn Nights”, mixed media abstract on black matboard. I like the way art on paper looks with a color or white behind it. Not archival, but more interesting to look at than just the paper, I think, and without the expense of a full mat setup.

I agree, putting it on a background or matting really makes things pop.
On this one it feels like the black in the painting is pulling the mat board into the painting.

Perfect title “Autumn Nights” this has a definite fall/Halloweenish vibe with the orange black combo and berries (I forgot what their called.) The addition of the white beads brings it all together.
I love the feeling of movement in this. The muted cool tones against the warm oranges are compelling.
I agree with Susan. The beads and dots create movement, expressing the dynamic changes that occur in autumn.
