This is from the free course Louise Fletcher teaches. The assignment was to paint what you normally paint, but using tools and colors you don’t usually use. I used watercolor, monotone, and only a large wash brush. The second part was to take the parts from the first one that you like and do a second painting using tools and colors that you like. I’m obviously not a skilled watercolor painter, but I do enjoy using it. This course has not been what I expected. It seems to be more art therapy than most classes. But it’s been interesting.
Interesting how the colors and brush strokes give me a feeling of a subdued place where I wonder what is over the horizon.

That’s an interesting assignment. Particularly your second piece, spawned by the first, is wonderful. Soft color and flowing paint… It’s realistic, but free!
What a great idea. I like both approaches and am particularly drawn to the bottom picture. The colors and how you blended them together. It came to life for me.
I see a desert scene, and Indian feathers on the horizon, perhaps symbolic. These paintings are really incredible, for they stretch you way of thinking and creating. Neat!
