Exercise with charcoal and watercolor
These are done with a value study in charcoal and then using watercolor (some gouache) over top of it. It was fun and I’m kind of liking the combination which started by accident on my outside study of the gazebo.
I like it too! You get some interesting depth with the technique.
Accidents can be the Best-Sometimes. You had a good accident, now what are you going to make with this new found technique if it comes out like your drawing it shall be great.
What a great discovery! I can tell that you’re enjoying this combo. The charcoal shadows and smudges give the objects a really cool aura! I especially like the little bowl and grapes. So well done!
I really like this look. The paint looks like it takes on weight. Not watercolor, not oil, but a feel of it’s own. Go lady!
