Portland, CT Riverfront Park Gazebo
I went back to Portland, CT Riverfront Park on my own after seeing something I wanted to paint when I was with our group. I was going to do a WC and then decided I wanted to do a study. Ended up with charcoal and then decided I needed some color notes. This was only in a sketchbook with paper that wouldn’t accept much water and also the charcoal didn’t like wc over it so it’s a bit of a mess but did the job to help me remember what I liked. I may do a painting from this or go back. It was a strange but fun time and one of the volunteers of the park took a picture of it to put on their Facebook!!!!! I decided what the heck!!
What a great story to go along with your painting! I hope you’ll continue with it.
Love the combo of the charcoal and watercolor. It gives a beautiful soft line. So, you are now on social media…even though you aren’t “on” social media. I’m not either…but I’m going to take a look and see if it’s on some public access page!
It probably wasn’t’ published !!!!
That was just me responding to you!
You should do a painting of this. It was a great location. The trees are probably fuller now and the river teeming with life.
A very charming sketch. Although you focus on the gazebo at first the trees move your eye around to see it all.
I REALLY like the sketch! The colors in the roof and nearby trees are wonderful. You’ve captured the peace and beauty of the park.
