Working on this charcoal drawing for a class on George bellows. Quite challenging but fun! It’s getting too dark so I’ll wipe out some areas and the two figures on the left need redoing.

This looks like quite a challenge, but you are doing a great job. I love how the birds soften up the large dark of the hillside. I bet charcoal is a great way to work on values and shapes.
What a great way to study. When I look at your charcoal and squeeze my eyes, I can really see what a powerful composition this is. Go George and Margaret!
You must be preparing for your painting trip to Europe! To paint the values and then add the correct color value is extremely difficult, I know. I’m sure it really teaches you to see as well. Bravo for doing this1
