It has been a busy week and I only have exercises from class. These are transcriptions of George bellows paintings. They are done VERY fast. About 1 hour each. The idea is just to get the feel of what the artist was trying to convey. Space, temperature, color etc. There’s no fussing with the timer going so it’s very freeing as there is no right or wrong. I highly recommend trying it for fun ! Hope everyone survived the storm.
I like the looseness of both. I get a sense of seeing NY (tall buildings) from the docks.
I also like the simplicity of how you did the people.
There is NO WAY I could even think with a timer going.

These are wonderful. The time limit does make a difference, but it’s still your style. I might have to try that again!
Great exercise. I love the way Bellows designs with big pieces. Particularly in the first painting the way he groups his figures into one shape and leads your eye around. The center white shape of water exquisite… So strong.
Great idea, I like the feel.

I think I’ll try limitIng time. These are so nice and loose and unstudied, it eliminates expectations and those labored decisions of what to do next.
