This is lesson 1 from Louise Fletcher’s free course. (Third try). It was just to tape off a grid, then paint the paper as if it was one big piece. We had to use three colors plus black and white.

“Autumn Nights”, mixed media abstract on black matboard.  I like the way art on paper looks with a color or white behind it. Not archival, but more interesting to look at than just the paper, I think, and without the expense of a full mat setup.

I’m not crazy about this one, but it shows how a palette card with a prompt works to get an idea started. The writing on the circle says “leaf shape”, I think. Can’t read my own writing.

This was an abstract that I cut into smaller pieces. I used art random prompts-mountains, water, dots.
