I had a lot of fun mixing colors together to choose a pallet for this small study painting. Do you ever pick a pallet and make a painting as a study before going big?

I think it’s great fun finding out what different palettes offer. I really like the way you treated your jar. I know lots of people like to do small studies also, I might do a thumbnail sketch but that’s about it for me!

I’m so impressed with the flowers-they’re gorgeous! I like the minimal background that lets the flowers be the star. I never got into doing studies unless it was part of a class. I guess I just like to go for it. I do like choosing a palette ahead of time and using those colors even if they don’t make sense, like a blue leaf or a purple tree. That can be fun!
That’s a Beautiful composition and would make a nice larger painting. I think having a few color choices before diving in helps the unity which you have succeeded nicely ; your colors are so clean and crisp.
You’ve achieved some strong bright colors with your palette and I like the stroke work in the flowers. Nicely done.
It was great to see you on zoom. It’s been many swim seasons ago but there are some people you never forget and you are one of them.
Hmmmmm – I wonder why?????
Haha! Oh dear 🤔 it must be because I was well loved, easy to coach, and always on time and not because I drove you nuts 😂 🤞🩷🩷
I love your color choices. Your large flower shapes and cropped in view are very effective. These flowers are joyful!
Doing a small study before doing a large painting is something I try to do if I’m planning a really big canvas. It’s easier to see if the big picture will work or if I need to rethink. I like seeing your color plans. In a glance one can see that these colors will work. Your color mix notations look like a good way to study color mixing.
Thank you all for your comments about choosing a pallet and doing a study. Super helpful!
