The first three drawings are from my sketchbook. I was drawing a dishcloth as it fell on the table, focusing on shapes. The 4th drawing is a charcoal. I’m starting to study the figure!

Nice work on all. Isn’t it amazing how even a dish cloth can be interesting when you look at it through artist eyes.

Drawing the dishcloth is such a cool idea! As artists, our subjects are endless. Our teacher, Terry, would always carry along a little sketchbook. She was filled with the art spirit, and lovingly passed it along to Susan who is now lovingly sharing it with you. Such a sacred tradition!
And I love your figure, as well.
I am so happy to see you sketching daily! Letting go of “things” and instead seeing “shapes” is not easy, and you are seeing more shapes all the time. Your sketches and figure are well done. Keep up the good work!!
Yes, it’s all about the shapes. I thought the first 3 were interesting abstract compositions when I first looked them. Not only do you have that, but you can now add more interest with color. Your figure is really nice too!

As I’m relearning these days, it is all about the shapes. Interesting shapes make even the dishcloth interesting! Love the figure as well…
