This week was Edward Hopper. I’m trying hard to paint shapes!!! I get a better result, and it’s actually easier.

Oh, those yellow awnings!! These are all wonderful, but the first one is my favorite. You’re doing some very beautiful things, and I enjoy seeing them so much!
These are gorgeous Rose! You have really captured the strength of Hopper in those strong patterns of light. My favorite is the first…all those loose shadow shapes around that beautiful awning. Shapes… inspiring.
The first one just pops out and I keep going back to it, at first it looks so complicated and detailed and then I see it as shapes and pieces, very nice.

I love the first one! The others are great as well. I know you are copying Hopper, but there is a lot of Rose in there too! It will be fun to see how this exercise influences your future work.
Hi Rose, they are all so beautiful, my instructor here is a stickler for shapes. I actually would like to visit the first one , love the awnings , it looks like a lovely place for a relaxing vacation .
Oh wow Rose! These are all incredible! As I’m learning more about shapes, angles, and proportions, you really nail them! The first painting looks like a magical place and makes me feel relaxed and happy with the pops of yellow in the awnings and I’m really drawn to the last one as well.
They are all incredible! The mood of the second two captures my attention. It reflects the “lonliness” and mystery of many Hopper paintings. There is such a powerful sense of time and place. You are doing such an amazing job!

Loving these rose! I’m sure you are learning so much studying with these amazing masters !
Thanks! I am learning a lot, but it is pretty hard…. More of a challenge than I originally thought.
