In class this week we focused on negative space and used a view finder to look at different objects and work on drawing the negative shapes. What I learned as we are studying drawing on the right side of your brain is that I have a very bossy left brain who keeps taking over. I found it much more relaxing when I was drawing from last weeks online course, starting with big soft shapes than I did this week, but I will keep at it in hopes my drawing skills improve. 🤞I really struggle with perspective and angles.

Wow, you did an amazing job on these. I struggle with drawing, so I’m really impressed. I’d say you’re doing great!
That’s always a great challenge and you succeeded in both! Glad your class didn’t are well and not near the fires
Drawing can be so hard, and you’re doing great! Once you really start noticing negative shapes, it helps your drawing a lot. Keep at this!
Good for you Maureen! I know what you mean about that bossy left brain. It sounds like your class is giving you good info, and it’s clear that you’re making good progress. I love the negative shapes in your light stand!
I remember how negative shapes were a little difficult for me to grasp until a light went on in my brain and then they became one of my best ways of seeing shapes and pieces.
Hang in there.

I agree with what everyone else said. Having that confidence in your drawing skills will Help so much in your painting. I don’t have it and snuggle with mark. Making, even. Keep at it…you are doing great!
Struggle, not snuggle!
Your drawings have such personality! I especially love the lamp.
The thing that helped me with perspective was contour drawing. You’re off to a great start.
