Here’s a photo of the painting I did tonight. It’s not all that great but I was working off a cold wax painting that we had done this winter. It was kind of cool to do a painting in another medium! The original cold wax painting is posted below.

Strong and impressive, it’s interesting when working from another work in a different medium, I’ve been doing some from oil to wc.

I love the dramatic color in both of these. It’s interesting to see the difference that occurs when your materials change. Your sky really takes the stage in the new one. It’s beautiful!

I love the simplified shapes
Wow Piper, very dramatic new painting. I love the way you keyed your new painting based on it’s own personality, rather than just copying it, using it as your source of inspiration.
Gorgeous colors in that sky… It looks like those moments between day and night when the last rays of sun are being thrown up in celebration. The dark silhouette of tree and water are an effective contrast to all the vigorous knife work and color in the sky.
