I just wanted to submit these pictures of my project since you mentioned that you were going to post this weekend. I then would like to post my soon to be finished independent project!.
Added by Susan: Piper did these oil paintings, yet to be completed, from gouache studies. She went on a trip down the Allagash, and did sketches with notes on Rives paper, to which gouache was later added. Then she decided that for her independent project she would turn these into an oil series.
What a great idea, and a wonderful reminder of your trip on the Allagash.
I am so excited about your project. Each of your compositions speak of the beauty and vastness of your wilderness trip. As you already know, my favorite painting is the last one. I love your negative spaces and the strong diagonal… they take my eye up and then lead it across… such fun!
I look forward to seeing the group together and completed. Tell your Mom she better get a wall ready!
This is a wonderful memory for you as well as a beautiful series. I really like them all but the things that really strike me are your color and your handling of the strong diagonals. You have a very distinctive style, and it’s lovely!
Such beautiful strong pieces! I know it must have been difficult to find the time to do but so glad you did.
Great project and something you can have for a lifetime. (Hold on to them, they will have even more meaning as you travel on life’s journey)
Your wonderful paintings seem to reflect awe of the powerful landscape.
I love trees, so really appreciate your series. Great work!
Piper, these are great. Strong lines and colors. I can’t wait to see your independent study completed and I hope you will share it with us. You’ve been working very hard with your art and it shows in all your postings.
Sounds like a great trip and produced such beautiful paintings! I really like the diagonal of trees. Such a cool perspective and the colors in all of them are all so yummy!
