Slowly I’m carving out some time to create art again. During summer break I’ve signed up for a watercolor painting class to gain more technical experience to help me capture the essence of life in different ways. I’m also hoping to take the five-day free collage class that the group seems to love. Do you know which one I mean? Can you share the name of the instructor?
This summer my goal is to have fun and be flexible with my art materials. I’ll focus on finding the balance between art as an expressive tool and use access/acknowledge more of the qualities of the media, so it enhances the final product.
One new interest that I’m using as a subject is elephants. They’re so complex, and expressive. I’ve uploaded a few of the sketches and although I have a long way to go, it’s a start.
Hi Gretchen. Your elephant drawings are great! Such expressive lines!
You might be thinking of the free course by Catherine Rains, called Collage Kickstart. I don’t know if it’s offered all the time, but I imagine you can find out if you google her name.
Elephants are great (in more ways than one) looks like you have a good feeling for them. Have fun.
Les
You’ve captured the wonderful, soulful expression of this amazing creature.
Two terrific sketches. I especially like the first sketch. You’ve captured the massiveness of this magnificent animal.
