Finally finished this painting. If I look at it any longer I’ll start painting over it again. I decided to start fresh and paint a painting of the painting in the style of Gabrielle Munter. This is my great grandmother Maryann and a great uncle. She was born in Lawrence mass, married and had 14 children. 8 survived and she died at the age of 46 from tb. I believe the boy in the photo only lived to 14.

I like you’re finished painting it feels like it expresses the times, the love and the hardships.
I’m not familiar with Gabrielle Munter but I like the style.

As I said yesterday, the eyes are wonderful! All the facial features on both of them are beautifully done, and the baby’s hand as well. I hope you keep it this way!
Margaret, this is so beautiful. I’m so happy you shared your underpainting as well. Just beautiful. Can’t imagine how hard life must have been with14 children, only 8 surviving and her life cut way too short. So nice to have her memory in such a beautiful painting. Very special.
Wow… What a strong woman. This is a wonderful tribute to her…. beautifully done. Her memory will live on.
I admire your tenacity and patience. It was well worth it, ending with a lovely painting.
Just beautiful. I love both styles, for you capture the spirit of mother and child and their bond. I can imagine how your bond with them has strengthed, as well.
