I was hoping to finish but ,alas, it keeps making me make more marks!
One thing I learned this week- the face was red red red and every time I knocked it down it got pasty. The problem was the background was green which kept making it pop more. Backgrounds matter! Thanks and have a nice week! I didn’t comment yet but I’m loving everyone’s work!
Keep on creating,
Wow, that was an interesting observation. Good for you and thanks for the reminder. This is looking really great.

I would have never thought but now that you mentioned it, it totally makes sense. This week I find myself looking at the woman’s face and the child’s hand wrapped around her neck. The fingers are wonderfully done. How you rolled the woman’s hair on top is interesting too. Very nicely done, realistic for that era.
I agree about the fingers. Beautifully done. The faces look more and more real. It’s really amazing!
I am riveted on their eyes. They are so expressive. Mom has a tender knowing look… I want to know what each is thinking. While the painting is formal.. they are very human.
Aside from your technical skills and the composition which are wonderful, I get such a strong feeling of contentment and love from the painting. Not an easy thing to do!
Mom’s eyes are so penetrating, and once again, I love baby’s little hand upon her shoulder! You are giving them such precious energy and spirit in your painting. Just wonderful!
