1. Put down the brush and went back to the books. I can read these books over and over again. If only I would follow their instructions. Sometimes I’ll read something a 2nd or 3rd time and then the lightbulb goes on (oh I see what they are saying). However, if I don’t put it right into practice, I will forget and just paint like I know what I am doing, when I really don’t. Always so much learn which is fun and frustrating sometimes all at once.

I like what you’re doing with your sketch. No matter how long we do this it’s still a learning experience and the fun of the process. Enjoy.

Your grid brings back such fond memories! There is so much to learn, it’s never ending. It’s humbling to say the least. Keep up the good work!
Your sketches look great! I like to look through old books I haven’t visited in a while too. There’s always something new in there.
I love the simplification you did with your sketches. Not an easy thing to do. My favorite is the one to the right. You re designed the shape of the rocks on the upper mid left and changed them from dark to light. To me the composition flows better… Go for it!
I loved that book! I’m so excited to see your drawing and look forward to the painting.
