1. This week was fun. I got some big sheets of charcoal paper and did simplified value studies in oil. It was freeing to have that big space to work on, and I think helped me to find more of the gesture.2.3.4.4.6.7.

Values!!!! It’s so much stronger without the color. Isn’t charcoal freeing and fun? Very strong shapes and great gesture
These are so striking-I just want to keep looking! My favorites are the ones where something is hanging on the line. What a great idea to focus on black and white!
These are amazing. They are beautiful in black and white, but I can also see them as being very interesting abstract designs. My favorites are the hanging ones, especially #1 and #3.

not charcoal for these, oils, but I agree about the charcoal…
I really like the ones that are hung or draped over a line.

They are all amazing. What a great study. The varying values really bring out the folds and creases. I’m liking those shadows too.
The gesture of your paintings is just incredible! #6 is my favorite. It is mysterious and dramatic!
