This may be one of my last plein air for the season as temps are dropping and the winds blowing a gale. I took a class with Christine lafuente this fall and she had us premix a lot of the colors of the big masses and paint with a large brush. It goes a lot faster once you start painting and quite enjoyable. Be well!

I’ve enjoyed taking my memories of Maine in your paintings and look forward to what winter brings to your work.

Premixing the main colors sounds like a very helpful tip. I may borrow that one! The painting is lovely. It shows how beautiful Maine is. (And makes me miss New England.)
This is so peaceful and beautiful Margaret. I love the big brush strokes and color harmonies. It looks like that wonderful moment of low light just before twilight. You nailed it!
So serene ..the clouds bring you right in and then you can meander about the painting. I would love to hear about what you learned from Christine Lafuente. I love her paintings, especially her florals. I took an online one from Windsor art, but it wasn’t at all what i expected. This is really lovely…makes me want to paint outdoors!
The brushstrokes seem to reflect the larger brush used. They add to the serenity of the painting. I’m drawn to the foreground, probably where you are standing, and love the colors. And the shapes of trees- their colors are so well done. Just a lovely painting. Stay warm!
