Sam looks a lot like my daughter’s dog Jilly. Very interesting pose!
She looks like she’s having a grand old time in the water. I’m thinking another layer of paint in the reeds would add some lushness to the background.
I recognized Sam right away, she looks so happy.

I love the vitality you captured in your painting of Sam. I enjoy the sparkle and life all the little flecks of light you put into his eyes and nose and tongue bring. He looks like he’s smiling! Nice treatment of your edges around the head…losing some and finding others.
This is such a great portrait of Sam. So peaceful and loving.
