This was an assignment to paint an ugly painting. The point was not to be afraid of failure. As it turned out I actually kind of liked it. It could use more work, but probably won’t get it. I’m starting a 10week course which is supposed to change my painting life! Ha…we’ll see, but I’m looking forward to it;.

I like it too! very bold assertive color application. Everytime we pick up a paint brush or knife it changes our lives so i look forward to seeing the adventure this class brings you on!
I’m in agreement with the above. For some reason, even with the pretty blue on the left my eye is drawn to the large stroke of white in the center. Good luck with the course, no failure with this one.
I really like this painting too. It looks like beautiful abandon… Passionate brushstrokes… no holding back. It sounds like an exciting class. I went to Fletcher’s website… I like her free creative approach and look forward to hearing your takeaways..

I like it too! It feels very much like nature in action to me.

I agree this is pretty cool. Maybe that’s part of the secret like making everything a study make everything ugly and we find there is no ugly!
