I’ve been doing color block studies. None of them are quite what I was going for, but this is the best so far. I’m trying to get more comfortable with still life, and this is, I hope, going to help. Geometric shapes are not my favorite thing!

Reminds me of doing ellipse studies and how when I feel there’s nothing I feel like painting there are always studies. Thanks.

That’s a great exercise! I had bought the Peggy kroll Roberts color blocks and learned so much. One hint she had was to look at it in a mirror or turn it upside down to see if somethings off. It will definitely help with still life shapes!

What a wonderful idea. You did a great job with a hard subject. Doing Books & tabletops always makes me crazy.
