This is a picture of my great grandmother and great uncle from a black and white. I’m trying a limited Ander’s zorn palette -cad red light, yellow ochre, ultramarine, raw umber and white . I will probably add black. The drawing is so hard and her eyes keep moving around like flounder but it is very fun. It will be my large painting since it’s 18×24. Hope everyone had a great week and are healthy 😁

Such a strong painting! Love the color palette and the dark lines against the softer folds of your great grandmother’s dress as compared to the child’s. Works very well together.
And yours too! Thank you. This is ready for light sandpaper and redraw.

Love the strong shapes and outlining you’ve done. It’s such a strong painting…it shows the confidence you’ve gained through your studying. Also, the eyes of your grandmother are very expressive.
Thank you, Sharon. Oh my gosh. She was my great grandmother and so beautiful. 12 children, 9 survived and died at the age of 46! I feel connected to her and hope to do her justice.
Wow Margaret. This is so beautiful. Your g grandmother looks like a woman of strength and courage, determination. No redraw… you’ve captured something so special. The baby looks calm, safe… The eyes have it. What a statement about motherhood!
I was stunned by your ability to capture their personalities. Such strength and determination in your Great Grandmother’s eyes and confidence in the child. I hope to grow my skill to this level.

Very reminiscent of your old masters drawings of late. Looks beautiful.
