After trying (unsuccessfully) to do a pet portrait for a friend, I needed to do something completely different. This little Japanese vase (?) belonged to my dad. It has a very intricate pattern that I wanted to indicate without doing details. I don’t know if I succeeded at that. Opinions are welcome.

I like all the “marks”, it intrigues my imagination.

Wow…. What lush, gorgeous color, Deb. The background and shadow are as much a part of it as the vase. The detail on the vase seems just right to me. Beautiful painting….
The colors are beautiful ,Deb. I especially like the warmth of the upper left. You suggested the design, but did ‘t let it get busy. This is really lovely…i would happily hang it on my wall!

I think you implied pattern without getting ditzy. I love the glow you gave the vase and background!
Very pretty Deb. I love your colors & the strokes.
Beautiful in its simplicity. Love the color palette!
